Haha to be fair, I do this in a lot of cities. But ESPECIALLY Girona! Not living there is the only reason I have not yet written a best-selling novel, I'm sure.
This is such a good idea. Some of the questions are almost too easy, but the hard one would be where you’d never want to go back to. At our age, the list of places we’ll never return to is probably growing, but I’d hate to hurry the process along.
Glad you enjoyed! Yes I think that's a tough one - and people have answered it differently! Some have gone down Emily's route of 'this wasn't the best' and some have actually said 'this was good but I'm done with it now'. I'm enjoying seeing how different people interpret the questions differently, even if they are simple enough!
Just a thought, and not that you need the suggestion, but I’d be interested to hear what travelers think was their biggest travel mistake or surprise. Something like that anyway.
A friend recommended it! I was taking a Hispanic literature class (in Spanish) and, though I love Borges and Marquez in English, they were too hard for me in Spanish. So I asked my friend for a good Spanish book that was a little easier. I still found it challenging to read in Spanish because of the timelines, but I enjoyed it. Do you have other Juan Rulfo recs?
'El Llano en llamas' (which has been translated as "The Burning Plain and Other Stories" is fantastic set of short stories and is also some of the best writing about the Mexican Revolution that I've read.
Thank you Sian! So far it is cold haha! But, yes, lots of big rocks. We have escaped to sunny, tumbleweed-y Arizona for the weekend. Will keep you updated!
“I kept marvelling at all the little streets and saying, “If we lived here, I bet I could write a novel for real.””
The number of times I have said this to myself...😂

I’ve never been, but Girona does look like an incredible place to write!
Haha same Sam - I identified with this bit a LOT
Loved this… but One should never be limited to one hat 🧢🎩👒
I know, so cruel of Tom :/
Speedy Boarding has a very limited budget!!
Such a cool interview! It was nice to meet Emily, and I’m excited to be a part of this in the future!
Thank you, Andrei! Excited to see your answers too!
Thanks Andrei! Really excited to have you take part in this!
Florence & Rome are on my list, if I ever venture from Greece!
Highly recommend! Feel free to reach out for recommendations. :)

Thanks for this - I like it! At the moment I'll be asking everyone the same questions, but I'm sure I'll revamp it at some point and I'll add this one
Emily, as a Juan Rulfo fan, I'm interested to know what led you to read Pedro Páramo.
