This is hysterical and relatable (why aren’t Spanish omelettes a thing everywhere?) and also I have a burning question: what is budgie???

Haha I didn't realise a budgie wouldn't travel! It's a pet bird that isn't so common now but I think was more common in the older generation.

I remember wondering, in Barcelona, how the locals could go to dinner at 10, hit the clubs afterwards, and be bright eyed and bushy-tailed at 8 in the morning at the office. It takes a special kind of conditioning... with or without prawns. Very funny, Tom!

Thanks Martine! Haha yes I agree with this - I certainly wouldn't be bright eyed or bushy-tailed in the circumstances!

This is so delightfully joyful! I can so relate to the surprise, the pleasure, the "oh my gosh what is this deliciousness" moment of a dish or drink that just knocks your socks off.

Thanks so much Renee! Yeah the prawns were very much that!

We can’t both marry the prawns! I feel like I could taste this blog 🤣 and now I want to go back!

I’ve only been to Barcelona once, when I was little, but I have some beautiful memories from that time, and I plan to return. Your post made me want to go there even more, if only to taste those prawns!

Thanks Andrei! If you only went for the prawns that trip would still be worth it.

Bienvenido/a a España. 😄

We are used to it, especially in summer. Although I have always disliked having lunch and dinner so late! Lol.

Haha yeah by the time I leave Spain I'm just about used to the timings, but every time I arrive, I think, wow, this is late!

Fun! Lol. At home we have lunch at 12:30/13:00. It’s one of the norms I gradually changed to a much earlier time to eat, when I had to stop working because of my spinal cord deterioration. I also had no fix timetable at work, as a fashion designer I didn’t have to check in or out, I usually had my lunch early too, even during the days I went to the office.

Enjoy your stay in BCN! I hope you are also taking siestas! 😉

Oh these sound amazing! Thanks for telling me about those Sian, they're going high on my list of things to try. And you're right! If you go early you are bound to be eating very quickly.
