Tom, Tom, Tom, no situation is impossible to look bored on. Like writing a good Substack, it just takes work.
Here is my trick to guarantee to look bored. Close your eyes and pretend a python is swallowing your left leg starting with your toes. Do you know how slowly pythons swallow their prey? It's very slowly! I guarantee that by the time it reaches your ankle, you will look VERY bored.
I discovered this for myself last year in Indonesia when a python was trying to eat me. Sure, I screamed a LOT when I first woke up to find said python munching on my foot. But it took HOURS for the rescue team to get to me and by the time I did -- and the python was up to my knee -- I was bored out of my skull.
"The bill has got to be paid at some point but it hasn’t got to be paid right now." When--every great once in awhile this is my mantra--it is such fun. ;)
Really enjoyed this. I love how your sense of humour and little observations can bring a place to life.
Also can't help wondering if that couple next to you had a preference between sand or stone too. But I guess that's not an easy question to ask people while at dinner!
I’m still finding sand on my stuff after a week in Brittany six months ago, so yes, I’m with you on pebbly beaches. Painful to walk on, but get the right sized pebble and you can get a plantar fascia massage with each step.😆
I come from the Italian Garda Lake and I am used to pebble beaches, and I too would not be impressed on that fancy beach. I get your very valid points against sand, but stones are so darn hard to walk on and nobody can look cool doing it ~ there, I said it.

You're welcome!
Glad the python only got up to the knee! Otherwise you wouldn't have been able to give me this valuable lesson.
I don’t call myself a hero, but if you want to…
Highly recommend the truffle pasta with a side of Aperol #WhenInNice
Well this sounds delicious.
It was excellent!
Finally, someone else who hates wet sand getting everywhere!
Cannot stand it! Glad you're a fellow pebble lover Jenna!
And also, sand, my friend. I must vote for sand.
Ah so many sand lovers! I'll have to write a whole post about pebble beaches!

It's the only way to live!
Now this is livin' ⛱️ Although, I'm still a sand guy (sorry Tom).
I'll forgive you just this once!

Thanks so much George, I really appreciate this comment!
Oh I'd say so but yeah, didn't pluck up the courage to ask them anything all day!
Sounds fabulous Tom - never been to Nice but Uncle Trevor has (business trip). Might be one to visit together. The steak linguine sounds delicious
Thanks Auntie Karen! That's a pretty good business trip for Uncle Trevor!

Haha exactly!! Or you can get sea-shoes, they're an absolute game changer!

Barbs!! I suppose you are from a pebbly place so I understand, but get yourself some sea-shoes, they're a game changer!
