Maybe it's because we're Americans but we weren't shocked by the prices, even though we'd mentally prepared ourselves. Thankfull, we aren't big drinkers, so didn't have to deal with that.
My favorite view was from the top of the downtown library near midnight as the sun was just about to set. Magical!
Thirty years ago, when I still lived in Europe, people often asked me why I didn't go visit Scandinavia instead of Greece or Italy. My answer: are you kidding, I can't afford it! ... Some things don't change.
We were there last summer, and we thought it was absolute paradise. But I think the key word here is "summer."
Yeah I'd love to see it in summer! We had one day of real sunshine and did a tour of various islands on the Oslofjord and suddenly really got it
Perhaps the prices keep out the riff-raff. Did you enjoy your time there?

That library looked amazing! I'm glad I'm not someone who goes real drinking on holiday - I'd have to get a second job doing that in Oslo!

Yeah exactly Martine! Then there's the obvious that they're just really not that beautiful in comparison to Greece and Italy.
