“It’s achingly pretty, the sort of sight that makes you wonder if there is really a God, because how could He make something as stunning as Capri at the same time as something as crap as Croydon.”

I’ve never been to Croydon but still laughed out loud at this thought! Hilarious 🤣

Haha thanks Samantha! Harsh on the people of Croydon but fair on Capri!

Hey now, Croydon isn't that bad! It certainly isn't crap, IMHO!

Haha - you are totally right! This was a bad joke and harsh on Croydon! It might not be Capri but it was trams and a beer festival so it's alright with me

When we told people we were living there for two months, I heard everything from Why in the world? to Croydon is a shithole.

There's definitely a North/South divide in London, and I think it just gets teased because it's far from the centre.

Also I was reflecting why I picked Croydon and think there's something to the fact that some places just sound uninviting, there's another town nearby called Crawley which I think suffers from this, particularly when compared with somewhere that sounds and looks like Capri. But then I do live not far from these places so should possibly be a bit more of an advocate! Nowhere else is like Capri!

We sailed by Capri last year and it was all I could do to not leap off the boat and try to swim there. Hope to visit one day!
