“Misjudging the amount of time needed” sounds like the understatement of the year, brilliantly put! I am sympathizing with your plight, especially the hike that was barely more than 20 minutes with no bathroom at the top either (rats!), but it sounds like you made the best you could of it.
ahhh you took me back to 2021, we lived on Hvar for 6 months. There were no tourists just us and the locals as the world went crazy. Forever grateful it was the most amazing place to be.
I've been here, too, such a weird contrast to the Hvar party scene in summer. I'm so happy you warmed enough to the poor American at the end to offer a view/seat haha. In these cases, I pretend to be French. :)
Yeah it's really interesting how different they are! Haha, I was surprised as because I tan easily I do normally get mistaken for locals, so it was different to be immediately clocked as English-speaking!
Just arrived in Split, feels like with this and Perast and Kotor, I really am following you around Europe. Maybe I should get a floppy hat...
You are! I have lots of food recommendations there that I'll stick in an email to you (need to also reply to you there).
If you do get a floppy hat make sure you steer clear of me!

Thanks! It was in reality all good - but definitely not what was expected!

Oh that sounds amazing! Quite jealous of you there.
We got stuck in Stari Grad on our way to Hvar in the middle of winter! 😝😝
Crikey, I'm surprised you're not still there! How did you manage to get out?
Our Airbnb hosts had to arrange for someone to come pick us up -- for a large fee! 😂😂😂

Lovely balance of travelogue and humorous storytelling. We're keeping an eye out for the 'man with the floppy hat'!
Thank you! If you see him, point him in the opposite direction to me!
I suspect he’ll be sat in a taverna behind me ordering the last portion of the octopus I was looking forward to after I recommended it to him!
That sounds like him!
yes, I LOVE the phrase "floppy-hatted menace."
Haha thanks Emily! He really was a menace.
